ABOUT JANET

I’m a teacher, storyteller, meaning maker. My top values are honesty and kindness. I believe in good apologies, fighting fair, changing my mind, and fresh starts. I am inspired by art, especially music, theatre, surrealistic expression, and cubism.

 

I spend a lot of time observing, wondering, asking questions and seeking answers. Sometimes this process is about understanding life and my role in it; sometimes it is about understanding the system in which I swim – my relationships, my community, my work.

I love words. Though inadequate, words serve as a proxy to capture thoughts, experiences, ideas. Writing challenges me to better understand and more effectively communicate. I ask a lot of questions – of myself, of others, about life. I dive quickly into nuanced conversations (admittedly to a fault sometimes). My superpower is connecting people who may or may not recognize how their worlds overlap.
