William Carlos Williams wrote a poem years ago with this same title. It has become somewhat of a viral challenge to write a version. I would describe the category of poems as "sorry, not sorry" poems. Here's mine:

I have smashed the screen

of your iPad

That was charging on the counter

Which you were probably

Going to use

To ignite your day

Caressing its screen

Tapping, stroking

The NYT crossword, the Spelling Bee, Wordle

Or that eternal game

You've been pursuing for years

Forgive me.

The handle was so smooth

The grip so satisfying

The hammer so powerful
